Back Row Brighton - Book Proposal
This was a live brief set by QueenSpark books. They have a book being published called 'Back Row Brighton, Cinema Going in Brighton & Hove'. My design (Image 1) was not chosen but I got some good feedback. I chose to create an vintage using old photographs, textures and colours. On my final design I played on the idea of putting the title of the book on the front of the cinema where they used to display the titles of films.
Woody Guthrie CD
The brief was to create a 16 page booklet for the Woody Guthrie CD 'This Land is Your Land, The Asch Recordings'. I created 8 images which had Woody Guthrie lyrics & quotes on the back on the printed image. I kept each image separate so that you could have a series of prints. I created each image to represent parts of Woody Guthrie's life. This included the war years, the dust bowl, oklahoma, New York and The War. I also made a slip case & box in which the prints & CD are stored. Photographs of final outcomes to be included.
Handmade Type
The brief was to take three quotes and make a piece of handmade typography using no imagery. Image one was created by using cut out text and paint. Images two and three were created by tracing over mixed media and using water colours. Image 4 was created by tracing over text. All of the typography was taken from existing typefaces and edited. I had enjoyed creating these pieces.

CD Cover Re-Design
CD Project brief. I had to re design an existing CD booklet. I chose to re design Alexisonfire's 'Watch Out!' Album. I created a concertina folded booklet. These two images go back to back. I chose a limited colour palette. I used photographs that I had took of the band at previous gigs. I also used photographs from another photographer for the ones I did not take. I used the lyrics to express some of the intensity of the music. Photograph of final product to come.

War Memorial
The brief for this project was to create a response to my local War Memorial. I am from St. Austell in Cornwall, my local memorial is situated by the side of the town church and the end of the town. Most people have forgotten that it is there. This made me think, If the local people have forgotten about the memorial, then maybe they have forgotten about the people it represents. I decided to base my project on the forgotten heroes. I found old photographs of war images and combined them with my own mixed media. I used all of the above images to create a book. (Photograph of final outcome to come).
